Projector Updates

...11:32 am update...the north copier can now scan documents to pdf and be emailed to you! Pretty slick and easy to use.

(10:50 am) FIRST...since I don't want to scare you, nor do I want to tell the story 50 times....I wanted to let you know I have a new hair-do. While waiting for my family to get up the morning we left for vacation, I thought it would be good to get a haircut. With no places open at 6am, I tried my hand at it. With my limited hair to start, options were slim so I went with the following choice:
Now, since then, it has grown back some.  Well, some of it has grown back anyway. :-)  I'm going to guess I shouldn't quit my day job to open a barber shop, but it has been fun getting double-takes from Maple Grove kids I've seen around the community and school (Beyond the Bell).  We will see what the summer brings...hope for some rain and good growing weather.

The real reason for this post is to update you on our projector project.  I've include the message I sent everyone on June 9th and added some additional updates. I do need some response from those teachers who will not have an installed projector to start the year so please read!  Questions - let me know.
  • Eight additional projectors will be installed at the end of July or beginning of August. The following rooms will be included in our second round: White, Grote, Umphress, Adamson, Sheldon, Meyer (Kerns), Gorend, Grimm and the gym (thanks to Beyond the Bell!!).
  • To start the year, we will have 19 classrooms and the gym with installed projectors.  WOW!! Much more than I expected. I will need teachers to talk to me about their screen location when you're in the building. These will likely be done in August/September after I talk to you because I want to make sure we only move it once. :-)
  • With this 2nd round, I made the decision to fill add one projector to each grade level and complete our upper grade level classrooms.
  • The remaining 8 general education classrooms, 2 music rooms and preschool room will be a part of our 3rd round of installations to take place after our fall fundraiser. Each general education classroom and vocal music will have a projector in your room. I need to know if you want a large cart (it would likely not be a projector cart) or will find a desk/location in your room to set the projector on instead (what Eason teachers have done). The following teachers should please email me your choice: Beyer, Craig, Crannell, Strack, Huisman, Miller, Broich, Hahn, Schoene.
  • The remaining goal to complete these final installations will be $20,000.  Quite a task, but one I'm sure we can accomplish.  I'm meeting with PTO co-presidents (Allison Hamling and Jackie Tysdale) the end of July to plan it out.

A few updates for you about our MGE installs...
  • Eleven installations took place this week. They are wrapping it up today/tomorrow.
  • Each room was left with one cord to attach your computer to the projector and the remote was left on your whiteboard tray. The custodial staff will leave the remote in this location. You will need to find a good location this fall.
  • Extra cords you may use during the school year (i.e. an audio cord to hook to an iPod/mp3 player) will be housed with Carrie and be checked out to the room upon request.
  • Carrie, Shelley and I will talk about a good system for hanging the cords so they stay out of the way during the school year.
  • One install mistake was made - room 303 (Roberts) was installed and was not on the list.  Room 105 (Umphress) will not be installed this week and will be completed in July. We had room 301 (Kerns) on the list to do in July - we will see if funds exist for this install.  Just remember - in the end, all rooms will be installed.  :-)
  • Equipped rooms as of this week: R.Broich, Swyter, Van Meter, Costa, O'Neill, Beavers, Roberts, Allison, Harvey, Jones, Bebout
  • PTO will be providing a LARGE check this summer so combined with a new 2011-12 building budget, July installs will include 10-12 rooms!!  We will be VERY close to every one of our 26 classrooms being equipped.   Yeah!
