May 18, 2012

Just to spite someone you all know, :-) the first thing included in this week's FWR is our Content-PLC Focus 2012-2013 Survey (http://bit.ly/JIpx6z). This is the one we ran out of time to take yesterday and is tied to the yellow sheet. Takes 5 minutes. :-) Thank you for your input as it will help drive building and differentiated professional development for 2012-13.

(-:   Take survey now   :-)

Now that you've finished the survey...

End of Year Staff Check List FAQ - First...before you ask questions in the office, please read through the check list and ask a teammate for the answer (sort of the "ask 3 and then ask me" theory many of you use in class). :-) Here are a few FAQs we've heard this week...
  • Cum folders and Perm cards stay in the office or office conference room when placing stickers and writing on them!
  • Data folder boxes are ready to go in the conference room. PLEASE put them in the NEXT grade level box alphabetically by grade not classroom.
  • Grade level leaders (K-2) have your shapes and envelopes are behind Paula's desk. DO NOT seal them.
  • Directions to print end of year Final Progress Report for cum file were attached to the FWR email I sent. Please read through them.
  • IA Assessment labels were placed in your box (gr 3-5).
  • Attendance stickers were placed in your box.
  • We will hand out IA Assessment and MAP results on Friday. SEND them home on Monday
The data folders will need to include the following: the most recent spring benchmarking (instructional and independent) sheets within the data folders, problem solving packets and the current and previous data sheets. Leaving previous DIBELs packets for kids going in to grades 3-5 is optional. The data sheet will be generated from the excel sheet I sent each team. If you have problems pulling up a student's name and/or data on the Excel sheet, let me know as I've fixed a couple 'bugs' already.

iPads - Carrie and I met this past week. I've made the decision to not check out iPads this summer. There is a lot of set up that needs to be done to them prior to the fall so they are ready for your classroom. We will use some time prior to school to provide training and get them checked out to you.

Grant to work on in the summer - Greater Iowa Credit Union understands that money is tight for teachers. That’s why they've developed a special grant program to allow K-5 teachers to purchase items they may not otherwise be able to afford. Classroom supplies, technology, equipment, field trips–there are plenty of possibilities!

Final Thoughts for the Week
...where I keep talking/typing and you
don't necessarily have to continue listening/reading.

"Are you serious, Clark?" is a quote my brothers and I use with each other when we are questioning each other's validity to something we've just said (we've also seen Christmas Vacation 100 times). I think one of them may have said that to me after I attempted to wrap up your wonderfully entertaining celebration skits/videos. But truth is...I was being serious. I love getting up and coming here each day. The work our entire team (teachers, office, associates, custodians, nutrition) has done with the kids this year has been amazing and I am proud to be along with for the ride. Of course, because of your hard work, I am the "world's greatest boss" and site manager of the year (see below). ;-) Thanks for the great season of "The Office", gang. Enjoy the last few days with each other and our kids. Your summer break (and The Office Season 3) is just around the corner.
